Our Johns Creek Law Office support the Southeastern United States law practice and the national firm with respect to dispute resolution and legal research. The firm's approach to full service legal resources for our clients have been greatly increased because of the increasing population and subsequent business growth in our area.
We had the privilege of representing a client in the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit throughout most of 2016 with several jury trials. We resolved multi state litigation in South Carolina, North Carolina and Alabama with significant wins for our clients.
We concluded litigation with a shoe manufacturer against an Atlanta supplier using fraudulent documents and fabricating financial records. Part of the law suit including real estate holdings and a liquidation of assets. Our legal connections in the Atlanta market combined with our decades of experience in the commercial transaction and business law arenas enable us to use broad resources and expertise in these cases.
Our real estate practice includes representation of commercial real estate interests in south Atlanta and in Alpharetta. These property owners hold a lot of residential and commercial real estate and are expanding their portfolio. With the recent acquisition of several 30,000 square foot buildings in the Johns Creek area, adding to this portfolio in neighboring cities is seen as an expansion opportunity. The acquisitions include industrial warehouses and vacant land in south Atlanta and two real estate trusts in Alpharetta. We assisted the client with acquiring a joint venture interest in additional Atlanta property located in just south of the Perimeter.
The Atlanta Metro area is thriving both in the residential and commercial real estate market with the relocation of major U.S. corporations to the area and regional headquarters of major companies. Office space is now at some of the highest rates we've seen creating an a vibrant atmosphere for investment and development.
Our clients are positioning themselves for prime real estate opportunities and for franchisees, they see a wonderful time of expansion in the Atlanta Metro area.
The Atlanta metro area has some of the fastest growing cities and counties in the country. There is little stopping the growth and our firm is positioning itself to keep pace with the growing needs of the business community for legal services.
Our thriving multi-cultural area is attracting businesses and investment from across the globe resulting in much redevelopment of areas in the city close to the airport and the circle of towns and cities that surround Atlanta. The employment opportunities and low cost of living are attracting highly educated, highly skilled 20 somethings to the area looking to begin their careers in an area where they can afford a high quality of life and where jobs are in abundance.
But the area is attracting young and old alike, while Atlanta's average age has decreased by 2 years, a large segment of the population are boomers who are looking for their downsizing home. As well, assisted living and community living with residential assisted centers are springing up all over the metro area with this population in mind. Land for these developments, is expensive in the metro area so many are seeking acreage in rural areas.
The city center thrives as the want to be spot for the millennials with active residential developments that include rental and ownership housing, restaurants, yoga studios and grocery stores all within walking distance are very appealing.
Many franchise companies are contacting us initially for real estate and location information. We see this as a budding time to build up our franchise law division and recruits new lawyers working for some of the tech franchising companies. We are able to provide franchisees and franchisors with investment legal counsel and represent them in any litigation that arises out of real estate ownership or partnerships.
Our years of practice in Atlanta as well as in national franchising corporations enables us to look at the broad spectrum of issues present when companies are deciding on relocation or expansion in the the metro area. We are uniquely positioned to provide access for our clients to markets in the southeast and business resources needed for companies in the south to grow.
